Why won't my printer print?
Your paper may be installed wrong. See next question below
for the answer.
How do I change the paper roll
properly?
(1) Remove the paper cover by pushing it toward the rear of
the unit and lifting up. Be sure to remove and save the paper
roll spindle that is inside the paper roll you are removing:
you'll need it later.
(2) Cut or tear the paper to separate the paper roll from
the paper in the machine.
(3) To remove the paper remaining in the printer, press the
[RETURN] key several times until the paper comes out at the
top of the printer.
(4) Cut the paper at the end of the new roll into a point
or "V" shape: Place the paper roll spindle that
you removed in step 1 into the hole in the center of the paper
roll.
(5) Insert the new paper roll by feeding the paper into the
well. Be sure that paper feeds from the BOTTOM of the roll.
(6) Using the [RETURN] key, feed the paper until it comes
up behind the print head. Continue feeding until the paper
comes up through the paper cutting window.
(7) Place the roll of paper in the paper well and replace
the plastic cover on the machine.
What type of paper roll should I
use for my Krown TDD?
Krown carries the special paper that print using heat know
as thermal printing paper, see Accessories.
What ink cartridge can I use?
No, TTYs with printer does not use any ink or ribbon. Instead
it uses special paper that prints using heat. This paper is
called "thermal printing paper."
What should I do if the paper roll
is stuck in TDD?
Open the printer cover and pull the paper roll out and load
again, see Printer's first question.
What external printer can I use
for hardcopy?
Any printer with Port Printer aka IEEE3 available only, some
printers will not work properly. Krown recommends printers
you can purchase from CompuTTY.com
or contact us for
special request.
DISPLAY
The
display has become foggy.
Turn the device Power off, and shake it until you see the
fog gone.
Sometimes when
talking to a friend with an old TTY, I get only number and
no message.
This means that the other unit is in FIGURES mode. Press the
[X] key several times. After the other personal changes from
the FIGURES mode to LETTERS mode, try again. (It is best not
to end a sentence with the "." period). Instead,
end it with the GA or SK response.

What
do I do if water is spilled on the keyboard?
Turn your TTY/TDD off and turn side the device down and let
it be dry.
What
are [<] and [>] keys?
[<] is SK know as Stop Keying, [>] is GA know as Go

do I use commonly used TDD abbreviations?
ANS - Answer, CLD or CUD- Could, LTR - Letter, MSG - Message,
MIN - Minute, NITE - Night, PLS or PS - Please, QQ - Question,
R - Area, REC - Receive, THRU - Through, THX - Thank you,
U - You, UR - Your, WLD or WUD - Would, and XOX - Hugs &
Kisses.

How
do I make dial?
Press [SHIFT]+[DIAL] and then enter the number you are call.
Only for Krown, MemoryPrinter and PortaPrinter series except
PP2000 STD.
I dialed,

Can
I make an overseas call?
Yes, you can. You need to turn International Speed ON by press
[CTRL]+[<] and press [Y] as yes key to change. Then dial.
In United States and Canada, the standard rate for TDD/TTY
transmissions is 45.5 Baud, while the international standard
is 50 Baud.
How
do I connect to my cordless phone?
Plug the headset cord to the 2.5mm audible connector. Turn
on TTY/TDD and dial from your cordless or mobile phone.
When I use my Sidekick
using Direct Connect with 2.5mm headset cable, it does not
always work. Is there a special step by step to make it work
every time?
Yes, there is. First, plug your 2.5mm headset cable into Sidekick
and wait for the white light in scroll button to flash. Then
plug other end of 2.5mm cable into TDD with its power off
and wait for the blue light in scroll button to flash. After
that, you may turn your TDD on. You're ready to make phone
call by dialing a number from your Sidekick.
Why
do I need mobile/cordless phone for Pocket Series or TTY with
Headset Connector?
Because TTY with headset connector is required to have mobile
or cordless phonesto make "direct connect" calls.

POWER
Sometimes nothing happens when my
TTY is turned ON.
Check the AC adapter/charger to make sure it is properly connected.
The battery runs down very quickly.
Exercise the battery often by allowing it to run down completely.
Then recharge it overnight.

What is FAST TYPE?
Fast type is for high speed typing to make a more live communication.
Can I clean my TDD with
cleaner?
Yes, be sure to unplug the adapter before you clean the TTY
with only glass cleaner, nothing other, apply the cleaner
with a cloth and clean. Do not spray directly on the device.
