How do I know if my cell phone is TTY compatible?
Krown Manufacturing strongly recommends that you test your PVCO, PVCO-C or PocketComm with different cell phones to ensure that it works to your satisfactory. Please look for this icon on the box of the phone that you are thinking of purchasing. This is the TTY compatible icon.

My cell phone is TTY compatible, but it's still not working.
Some cell phones will switch to TTY mode automatically once the cable of the TTY device is plugged in. Some cell phones need to be changed manually. Please refer to your users manual to find out how to change it to the correct mode. Please note that some cell phone have difficult options such as TTY, VCO and HCO. Please switch it to TTY mode, even if you're using it as a VCO or HCO.

The operator cannot hear me when I'm using my PVCO-C.
Do not speak into the cell phone. Be aware that the small hole in the front on the left of the PVCO-C is the microphone that you will need to speak into. Also you may need to let the operator know it is a VCO call. On the PocketComm, press [CTRL] + [P] and on the PVCO-C, Press the speak icon which look like this. To send a message to the operator letting them know it's a VCO call.

What is the different between Acoustic and Mobile?
Acoustic mode on your PocketComm will enable the small speaker and microphone on the back. When your PocketComm is in Acoustic mode, it will need to be strapped over your telephone earpiece (Fig.2) to allow the tones from the operator to go through the microphone. If you want to use send a message back, you will need to move it to the mouth piece of the telephone.

Mobile mode on your PocketComm is for using it with the cable. You can switch between acoustic mode & mobile mode on your PocketComm by pressing [CTRL] + [M].

I'm having trouble using VCO mode with my PocketComm.
Depending on which mode you have your PocketComm in. You will need to turn ON or OFF the VCO mode. If you're using it in Acoustic mode, then you will need to turn the VCO mode OFF. You will turn it OFF because you will be speaking into the mouthpiece of the telephone.

If you're using it in Mobile mode then you will need to turn the VCO mode ON. You will turn it on because you will be using the cable and you will speak into the microphone located at the top left cord. You can switch from VCO ON & OFF by press [CTRL] + [V].
Note: The PVCO-C does not have this feature.

The word that relay is typing are coming through garbled on my PVCO-C or PocketComm.
There may be number of reason that the words may be coming through garbled. First, make sure the cell phone that you are using is TTY compatible. (Please refer to question 3rd and 4th). Second, make sure that you're in the correct mode for which you intend to use your PocketComm. (Please refer to question 6th). Third, if you're using your PVCO-C or PocketComm with a cell phone make sure that the signal strength bar is full. Fourth, if you're using your PVCO-C or PocketComm in acoustic mode, (the PVCO-C does not have an acoustic switch) make sure that the connection between the earpiece of the telephone and the small microphone on the back of the PVCO-C and the PocketComm.

I'm using Nokia's cell phone with TTY compatible but nothing is working.
Nokia cell phones required on adapter, there are three different types: HDA-8, HDA-9 and HDA-10. You will need to refer to your cell phone users manual to determine which one you will need for your particular cell phone.
Note: Using VCO mode on Nokia's, please turn TTY mode off.
